3D Digital Production for Animation & Video Games

Fall 2020

I learned the basics of modeling, texturing, animation, lighting, virtual cinematography, and rendering using the industry-standard application, Autodesk Maya. Through weekly tutorials and projects using Maya, I received hands-on, practical experience in the core facets of 3D digital production. Through weekly lectures, group discussions, critical studies reading assignments, and film screenings, I learned the foundational principles of 3D computer graphics, computer animation, and visual storytelling, and gained a broader understanding and appreciation of the cultural and historical contexts that surround the creation and reception of this art form.

Advanced 3D Digital Production

Spring 2021

In this class, I moved beyond the fundamentals of 3D production and tackled advanced concepts such as complex object and character creation, digital sculpting and painting, keyframed and motion-captured character animation, and more. In addition to production assignments, I learned more about the aesthetics, history, and cultural relevance of computer animation and games through a variety of reading assignments and screenings.

Tech Concepts of Visual Effects

Spring 2021

This class teaches concepts of computer-generated imagery as it is used in the field of visual effects, and delves into some of the technical underpinnings of the field. While some focus relies on artistic critique and evaluation, most of the emphasis of the class is placed on understanding fundamental concepts of 3d modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and compositing. Those who excel in the visual effects industry are those who have both a strong aesthetic sense coupled with a solid understanding of what the software being used is doing "under the hood." This class, therefore, seeks to stress both aspects of the industry.

Senior Design I & II

Fall 2020 & Spring 2021

In the Fall, I primarily used Autodesk Eagle to design a printed circuit board.  I ordered the microchip and PCB and conducted electronics testing on the board while using C++ and assembly languages in MPLAB.  In the Spring, I worked with a small team to use the PCB and Raspberry Pi's to create an electrical landing system for a rocket, which we launched in a NASA competition.

Computer Architecture

Fall 2020

This course was an introduction to basic architectural concepts that are present in current scalar machines, together with an introduction to assembly language programming, computer arithmetic, and performance evaluation. Commercial computer-aided-design software was used to deepen the understanding of the top-down processor design methodology. MIPS-based assembly language was used.

Work History
Pixelberry Studios

Dec 2022 - Dec 2023

I wrote interactive visual novels for the Storyloom platform.  This process involved drafting story ideas, writing stories, designing characters and settings, engineering a multi-path playthrough experience, and working with an editor before publishing my work.

Loring Smart Roast

March 2023 - Sep 2023

I program Click PLC's, drives, and software for artisan coffee roasting machines using ladder logic, Python, and C#.  I design electrical schematics and create bills of materials using Solidworks Electrical, Parts & Vendors, and Perforce.  I also work hands-on in electrical panel construction.

Martin Automatic, Inc.

June 2021 - May 2022

I designed large machines such as splicers and tension control systems in Autocad Electrical.  I also worked a lot in the Epicor and Vault databases.  I expanded my knowledge to encompass the entire process of design, editing, construction, and testing of assembly drawings, electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics, machinery.

Lake Erie Electric, Inc.

July 2019 - August 2020

I constructed coordination drawings and estimates for power distribution, working primarily in Revit and Navisworks.  I created and enhanced electrical drawings, completed layouts and bills of materials, and collaborated with engineers regarding accuracy, design, and drafting standards.

Karpinski Engineering

May 2018 - July 2018

I assisted engineering teams by designing and completing installation revisions for as-built drawings, construction documentation, wiring diagrams, circuit layouts, and one-line diagrams.  I was introduced to Revit and AutoCAD.  My work focused on Division 26 and 27 of the Master Specifications as defined by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) – power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and related systems.

NASA Glenn Research Center

May 2017

I computed and constructed the design of antennas and their components in digital software.  I lead a team in testing antennas in the research facility of the Communications Department.

The Cleveland Clinic, Fairview Hospital

June 2016 - August 2016

I worked alongside researchers and doctors in a 9 week internship program.  I learned about electrical equipment in the hospital while conducting a research project titled, "Chemotherapy Dosing for Obese Patients."

Magnificat High School, Concessions

August 2013 - September 2016

I worked at a concession stand after school and on weekends throughout high school, preparing and selling food and tickets for sporting events.
