Mona Megistus

Since I am a huge fan of the video game, "Genshin Impact," I decided to model one of my favorite characters from the game for my Advanced 3D Digital Production final project.  I felt that Mona would be a great choice due to the wonderful asymmetry and detail in her character design.  I created a base mesh from scratch in Maya which I then exported to Mudbox.  I sculpted details and colored in diffuse layers, textures, and specularity.  This is my favorite project that I have worked on because I had the time and passion to put a lot of love into this model.

Genshin Goblets

This is an earlier project that was also inspired by "Genshin Impact."  I chose to model two goblets from the game for my VFX class to showcase my skills in hard surface modeling.  This project involved modeling, creating and assigning shaders, creating an environment, and arranging lighting.  3D models of these goblets do not exist in the game, so I was presented with the challenge of creating 3D models based only on front-facing 2D images.  This is a project that I enjoyed very much and I am very happy with how the different materials look!

Pulse Rifle

I modeled a replica of the Pulse Rifle featured in the 1986 film, "Aliens," for my Advanced 3D Digital Production class.  This project has helped me to gain confidence in my abilities in Maya and has given me a renewed love for modeling.

Lizard Lady

This project showcases my first experience working in Mudbox.  I created a base mesh in Maya which I then transferred to Mudbox to sculpt and paint.  Though starting in Maya is quickly becoming atypical for character modeling as opposed to hard surface modeling, I wanted to gain experience creating a human model in Maya and working in both programs.  The end result is a fantasy world humanoid with a nice specularity on her scales and armor.

Box Animation

This is a little animation project for my Advanced 3D Digital Production course.  This was my first experience animating a character with rigged facial features.  Making a simple cube so expressive was a ton of fun!

Flour Sack Animation

This project for my Advanced 3D Digital Production course is my most polished animation so far.  I am happy with the squishy, cartoon feeling of the character's motion.  The rapid breathing at the end does make me feel a bit guilty, though...

Motion Capture

I was fortunate to gain some experience with motion capture animation towards the end of my Advanced 3D Production course.  I attached mocap data of a simple jump to a standard Maya character.  After linking the data to the skeleton of the model, I worked to clean up the graph editor and exaggerate the motions.  For example, I prevented the arm from clipping through the body and made him jump higher.  This was very cool to learn!

Dragon Miniature

This is a personal project that I made just for fun!  I wanted to create a miniature figure of a mechanical dragon for DnD.  I exported the final model as an stl file and was able to make a 3d printed version of it for the game.

Pokemon Generations

Pokemon Generations: The Adventure is the first episode of a Youtube series that recaptures iconic moments from the video game franchise.  I knew the charming animation would be a wonderful reference to practice transforming 2D animation into 3D.   I was able to gain more experience in rigging, painting skin weights, animating characters, blend shapes, and camera direction.  I love how I was able to sync my animation with the audio from the original video!

SPRING IN KANTO

This is a work in progress.  I modeled the Pokemon Bulbasaur after a planter that I 3D printed and painted myself.  The model is 1:1 with the real object and the lined texture of my model is accurate to the printed layers.  It displays my progress in many stages of the animation pipeline: modeling, UV mapping, shading, texturing, animating, lighting, camera directing, and rendering.  The final render will feature more lights linked to the character and background, and smoother character and camera animation.

Fruit Lighting

This is the rendered image of my fruit lighting project from my 3D Digital Production class.  This showcases my work with shading, textures, and lighting.  This was also my first use of light linking to create backlights.
